Our History
Turkish history is incredibly interesting and varied, and encapsulates a number of very significant stages during the thousands of years it has been evolving. Turkish history goes right back even to the times of ancient Greece and Rome, which means their cultural, social and economic development are also rich and complex. Obviously, their "cuisine" has evolved during this period also, and today Turkish food represents an absolute smorgasboard of colours, tastes, aromas and nutritional qualities that will delight everybody's taste-buds.
Incorporating Turkish, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean styles of cooking, A La Turko presents delicious salads, flame-grilled meats and seafoods, healthy dips, plus a variety of flavoursome sandwich wraps. This still only represents a part-sampling of the full range of exciting foods A La Turko provide in their modern 'food court' restaurants.
The first A La Turko outlet was established in 1982 at Westfield Shopping Town Parramatta, in Sydney's western C.B.D region. It was a small shop offering a unique, fast-food menu of Turkish and Middle Eastern style food. It became an immediate success, and was operated by David Boga himself.
In 1991 the A La Turko franchising system was established, and today the network is enjoying a wave of success, particularly from the acknowledgement and on-going support of many satisfied customers.
With various successful outlets delivering A La Turko's delicious food to customers in the food halls of major shopping centres in Sydney and Melbourne within Australia, A La Turko has successfully expanded its outlets outside Australia. Since May 2008, an outlet was opened in Suva Fiji and another one in Port Denarau Nadi Fiji. 4 more outlets are going to be opened this year. Further invitation is extended for new operators to help David and his team expand their presence to other parts of the world eg. Malaysia and Indonesia etc...
